Q: Should I report the contributions received up until the day the report is due?

A: You are only required to report contributions received and expenditures made as of five days before the report is due. Any contributions received and expenditures made in the five-day period before a due date should be listed on the next report.

Q: How should in-kind contributions be reported?

A: Enter the contribution as usual. A specific description of the contribution is required. Electronically, when you check the "in-kind" box, a box will appear which will allow you to enter the specific description. Be sure to enter it as an expenditure also so that you balance out.  You may check the "in-kind" box under the expenditure as well.

Q: How do I report contributions of $50 or less?

A: Contributions of $50 or less do not need to be reported individually. You may lump them together and report them as a single aggregate figure. Enter the word "Aggregate" in the contribution details and than enter the date and amount.

Q: I did not spend or receive any money on my campaign.  Do I still need to report?

A: YES!  If a candidate fails to file the required financial disclosure reports, the candidate will be disqualified.

Q: The only money I have spent on my campaign is money out of my own pocket.  Do I have to report the money I spent?

A: Yes.  Candidates must report all money spent for political purposes. This money should be reported as a contribution to your campaign.  If it is a loan to the campaign, be sure to check the "loan" box.

Q: How do I report interest earned on my campaign account?

A: Enter the interest as a contribution.  Report it under “Interest Earned” or the “Banks Name-Interest Earned”.  We recommend that you indicate that it is interest earned in the comment field.

Q: Will the information I enter be available to the public as soon as I enter it?

A: All contribution will go public as soon as they are saved or enter into the electronic system. You can enter your expenditures throughout the reporting period but contributions must be reported within 30 day of receiving the contribution.  Expenditures will not be available to the public until after you click “Submit Report” electronically or when it has been submitted to the Lieutenant Governor's Office.
