Guidelines
for State Executive Candidates
Before
spending or receiving any money, candidates for state executive
offices (governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state
auditor, and state treasurer) are required to select a personal
campaign committee. This committee should consist of one
or more individuals that will receive contributions, make expenditures,
and file reports for the candidate's campaign. A state executive
candidate can serve as his or her own campaign committee.
Statement of Organization
forms are available at the Office of the Lt. Governor or on-line.
The
campaign committee should deposit any contributions in one or
more separate campaign accounts in a financial institution.
This money can only be used for political purposes and should
not be mingled with any personal or business money or accounts.
Candidates are required to report all contributions or
expenditures made to bring about their nomination or election.
If a person who is no longer a state executive candidate chooses not to expend the monies remaining in his or her campaign account, the person must continue to file the year-end summary report until the Statement of Dissolution and a final summary report are filed with the Lt. Governor's Office.
Guidelines for State
Legislative Candidates and State School Board Candidates
State legislative
candidates and candidates for the state school board are not required
to have a personal campaign committee like state executive candidates
but may form such a committee if they choose. Candidates
shall deposit any contributions or public service assistance
that they receive into one or more separate campaign accounts
in a financial institution. This money can only be used
for political purposes and may not be mingled with any personal
or business money or accounts. Candidates are required to report all
contributions or expenditures made to bring about their nomination
or election. Statement of Organization forms are available at the Office of the Lt. Governor or on-line.
If a person who is no longer a legislative candidate chooses not to expend the monies remaining in his or her campaign account, the person must continue to file the year-end summary report until the Statement of Dissolution and a final summary report are filed with the Lt. Governor's Office.
Guidelines for Federal
